Map of Algonquin Provincial Park area showing plantings

Above is a map showing the location of our plantings. Below you'll see a description of the planting sites with directions and photos to help you find them.

Our Demonstration Forest is a good place to see not just our seedlings but also mature trees of the same or similar species. Your tree will not be specifically labelled but we encourage anyone to come see what their tree may look like.

Though our Demonstration Forest is 2 wheel-drive accessible during the spring summer and fall, we recommend visiting in the fall for optimum road and insect conditions.

Don't forget that while staying in the Pembroke area, Travelodge Pembroke has extended their special "Bereavement Rates" to Memory Woods Canada visitors. Check our Partner Links page for more information about rates.

All forests in Ontario contain mosquitoes and black flies. For your safety and enjoyment, Memory Woods Canada strongly recommends using an insect repellent containing DEET when visiting any wilderness area.

1 Directions to our New Demonstration Forest:

(1)
Take HWY 17 west from Pembroke
(2) Turn left at County Rd. 26
(3) Make an immediate right (approx. 200 metres) onto Barron Canyon Rd.
(4) Follow Algonquin Provincial Park Signs past the Portage Store as road turns to gravel
(5) Our forest is located on the right hand side between KM 12 and KM 13 markers

2 Memory Woods Canada  trees can be found at Lake McMannus in Algonquin Provincial Park. These trees were planted in 2000 and 2001 to repair damage caused by a severe windstorm in July of 1999. Unfortunately Park regulations do not permit our signage at this site.

To visit this site:

(1) Follow the previous directions back to Barron Canyon Rd.
(2) Follow Barron Canyon Road entering Algonquin Park at the Sand Lake gate entrance (the purchase of a day pass will be required)
(3) Proceed 5 KM and turn Right following the signs to Lake McMannus
(4) Our seedlings are planted on the both sides of the canoe entrance to the Lake. (Park signage at this location explains why seedling were so desperately needed at this site. Click here to see a picture of the sign)
