| Q: Who is Memory Woods Canada? A: Memory Woods Canada is a private Canadian company which partners with individuals allowing them a practical way to plant a memorial tree in honor of a friend or loved one. Q: Where are these trees planted? A: All memorial trees are planted on Canadian Crown Land and thus belong to the people of Canada. For the years 2000 and 2001 our planting projects included Lake McMannus at the east end of Algonquin Provincial Park. For 2002/2003 Memory Woods Canada is working with Ottawa Valley Forests to plant trees at the location of our Memorial Demonstration Forest, located on Crown Land just east of Algonquin Provincial Park. A map showing the location of our demonstration forest can be found here. Memory Woods Canada is also actively seeking areas to be planted in eastern and western Canada. Q: What kind of trees are they? A: The type of tree planted will vary depending on the specific area being planted. For the 2000 season we planted exclusively red pine seedlings. In 2001 we planted both red and white pine. For 2004/2005 we will be planting exclusively white pine. All decisions about tree species are left up to the local forester who chooses species as well as seed sources native to the area we will be planting. Q: Can I go visit these memorial trees? A: Yes. We have a demonstration forest which is open to the public. This is a good place to see not only our seedlings but also mature trees of the same or similar species. Your tree will not be specifically labeled but we encourage any one to come and see an example of what sponsored trees look like. You can find information on the location of our demonstration forest here. Q: I know someone who has passed away. Could I have a tree planted in their honor? A: Certainly! Simply Contact Memory Woods Canada and ask about having a tree planted. As well whenever a tree is planted a sympathy card and Certificate of Planting will be provided allowing you to express the gesture you have made to anyone who has survived the deceased. Our order page is located here. |
